    Hello Mrs Renzulli’s class,

Our state, Tasmania, is small but really pretty.
Our native animal is a Tasmanian Devil.
Tasmania’s capital city is Hobart, which is in the southern part of this state.
Are there really deserts around Arizona, if so, how many and what are some of their names?
    Nihad

    •   Natalie/Alawna Says:

      Dear 4lb class,
We have deserts werever we walk. It is sandy and barely any grass here beacause it is so hot grass does not live very long. Especially in AJ we have way more desert then Mesa. So we have all kinds or deserts here. Do you have any grass in Australlia?

      •   Annabel Says:

        Hello,
I am very excited to talk to you. In the part of Australia we live there is lots of very green grass at the moment as we have been having lots and lots of rain! It sounds very hot in Arizona.
In the winter how cold does it get?
        Do you get grass then?
        Annabel

      •   Nihad Says:

        Hi Natalie
here in Tasmania you barely see the sun it’s mostly rainy or windy. here mostly during September or June the weather changes like in the morning it is rainy then suddenly in ten minutes time the sun shines. Does that happen in Arizona, If so how often?
        Nihad.

      •   Alawna Says:

        Dear Nihad,

Hello it is Alawna. Thank you for answering our question . Here it’s not rainy, but it is windy mostly all day. Me and Natalie were wondering does it snow in the winter? Here it only snowed on the mountains not down here, because it is so hot down here it will not snow. In Australia does it snow where you are? In Arizona it also rains in the summer if it is low temperature. Our temperature is usually about over 85 degrees. What is your temperature there?

        Sincerely,

        Alawna

      •   Nihad Says:

        Hi Kathryn,
how many hours do you reckon it takes you to get to the Grand-Canyon?
What else other than the Grand Canyon is famous in Arizona?
        Nihad.

      •   Kathryn Says:

        Dear, Nihad

From our town to the Grand Canyon it takes 3 hours and 49 minutes to get there.
Also the Grand Canyon was carved into to it’s shape from a rushing water that took off the particles of the rocks and made it smaller. After thousands of years it was carved into a canyon.

Can’t wait to find out who is my buddy!

        Bye Nihad :D

      •   Nihad Says:

        Hi Kathryn

        Donald

    •   Nihad Says:

      Hi Donald
Here in Tasmania it rains so much.
Our City is in the north of the state so it never snows, but in hilly areas in the south of Tasmania it snows every winter some of us do skiing tobogganing even snowboarding the snow is so fun but it is so cold that some times I get frost bites on my fingers.
Have you ever gone on a ski, snowboard or toboggan.

So most people like to go to the mountains where there is snow in Tasmania the biggest snow mountains near us is Ben Lomond. I like going there but when you start getting up the top it can start to get a little bit scary. My question is there any deserts near your school and do you see any cacti nearby?

    Hi Mrs Renzulli’s class
The highest temperature that we have ever got in Tasmania is 42 degrees Celsius! We only have one small desert in the northern territory the rest of Australia is concrete and grass. Our queens name is Elizabeth. We have quite many people the population is over 500,000! The colours on the Australian flag is blue and red. In Australia we have a thing called a naplan and its a big test. A long time ago they didn’t even know Australia existed they thought the world was flat! At the moment in Australia its winter and it rains a lot here. Tasmania is the smallest state in Australia its not connected to the other part of Australia. Australia is colder way colder than Arizona.

    Dear 4 LB,

My name is Raven I am so anxious to do this it seems really fun.

Is it true that you are in a different time zone than us.

    •   tahlia4lb Says:

      Hi Raven,
Yes it is true that we have a different time zone to you. I think that we are quite a few hours ahead (Ms B says 17). Do you know what the coldest day in Arizona was?
      Bye for now Tahlia

    •   Annabel Says:

      Hi Raven,
I am very excited to be blogging with you and your class, I’m sure all of our class is to! It is definitely true that in Tasmania we have a totally different time difference to you……
Tasmania, Australia is 17 hours ahead of Phoneix, Arizonia. We have daylight savings, which means that everybody switches their clocks to an hours difference. In spring we switch them an hour forwards and in Autumn (Fall) we switch our clocks back one hour. A quick trick to remember that is that in spring it springs forwards and in Autumn it falls backwards, as another word for Autumn is Fall (You may already use the word Fall instead of Autumn!).
You are having Summer now, as we are having Winter so that is another difference between Tasmania and Arizona.
Do you have daylight savings in Arizona?
Do you wear school uniforms in Arizona? We do!

Hopefull I will get to visit Arizona one day.
      Bye,
      Annabel :D

  38.   tahlia4lb Says:

    Hi Mrs Renzullis class,
Do you have many storms in Arizona? If so what was the longest storm that you’ve had? I can’t remember the longest we’ve had in Launceston. I’m really excited to be blogging and skyping with you and can’t wait to hear more from you all.
Good bye for now your new blogging buddy Tahlia

    •   Alawna Says:

      Dear Tahlia,

This is Alawna. I am really happy to be blogging buddies also. We have had some little dust storms that we call Dust Devils. They are about 20 seconds long, but the longest is 1 hour. Later this weekend we are going to have monsoon season. So we are going to have a lot of big storms. They will be about 2 hours long at the most. Here we have dust storms because of all the sand. Do you have storms that become storms from the weather or the ground? Storms come a lot in monsoon season because it rains and it is hot. You are probably wondering what monsoon season is. It is when it rains in the summer and it is not that hot anymore. That is why we have a lot of storms. Do you have a time like that?

      Sincerely,

      Alawna:)

    Campbell

  48.   Amy Says:

    To Kathryn,
In Tasmania when we walk we don’t see very many deserts, did you know that Tasmania is the closest state to Antarctica, also in Tasmania we see a lot of grass and it is long and green, but also in Tasmania in winter the grass gets very muddy! Our school was not allowed on the school ovals for at least 3 weeks because it was pratically under water when it rains I hope I gave you some good facts about our school and Tasmania.
    See you soon Amy.

  50.   Imogen Says:

    Hi Alawna,
It’s me Imogen. I was wondering who some of your very best friends are, and what you like to play together? My friends are Nihad, Gabbrielle, Tahlia, we love playing Marco Polo. If you don’t know how to play, here is how to:
    1. You all go on the playground.

    2. One player is ‘ it ‘.

    3. The person who is it closes their eyes while everyone else scatters around.

4.The person who’s ‘ in ‘ must keep their eyes closed the whole time.

    5. The catcher yells out ‘ Marco ‘ and the rest of the people yell back, ‘ Polo ‘, by doing that, the person can hear their voices and he/she follows the voice and tries to catch them.

    6. The ‘ it ‘ person can also shout out ‘ Fish out of water! ‘ and if people are on the woodchips in the playground, they are in.

    7. If there is more than one person on the woodchips the catcher gets to choose which one of them is going to be in
If you didn’t know Marco Polo before, I hope I helped you with a new game you could try Alawna.
    Your blogging buddy, Imogen.

    •   Alawna Says:

3.You can not go on other peoples squares

      4.There is to people

      5.there is 4 squares

6.The person to put the ball the whole way around WINS!

I hope you will like this game. I also want to know if you have a mountain by your school because I do. It is tall and it’s name is Superstition.

    •   Caitlin Says:

      Hi, Craig
I like reading books too there are loads of books here the main library is the town library its full of books. My favourite books are mostly gymnastics books because I love gymnastics but I probably cant choose a favourite because there are soo many books. My question for you is are there lots of books in Arizona.
      Bye for now, Caitlin :)

      •   Annabel Says:

        Hey Craig,
I like to read as its good for your imagination and you may feel like you are dreaming in another world!
I would prefer fiction books as they aren’t true but if it is a non-fiction book about a person I enjoy it. Information books are not my favourite.
My favourite book is Hiding Edith. It is quite a long book with emotional feelings. Edith is an extremely young girl who gets separated from her family during world war 2 (ll). I won’t give you too much information as you may want to read it, but it does end with a happy ending.
        Bye for now,
        Annabel

  58.   Annabel Says:

    Hello everyone,
Today was a tipical spring day in Northern Tasmania!
We had hail, rain, wind and sun in just one day. In Australia the weather often changes in a few hours as the seasons start to change.
The hottest temperature in Tasmania is 42° Celsius which would be a lot higher if you measured in farenheit. In South Australia, which is a territory of Australia it reached 50.7° Celsius which is extremely hot.
In Arizona to have sudden weather changes in one day?
    Chat soon,
    Annabel :D

  59.   Ashley Says:

    To Caitlin,
Hello again Caitlin. can I ask you a question? If I can answer this please so here’s my question to you. Did you have your fall break yet if you did what did you do over the Fall Break? When you get on here please answer me when you get a chance.
    Bye for now, Ashley :)

  62.   grace4lb Says:
