On Sunday the 4th of August 2013, Longford Primary School, along with sixteen other schools attended the annual maths relay at East Launceston Primary School. I was in a group with Harvey, Isaac and Braydon. The other team for Longford was Theo, Toby, Lauren and Rose. There were 20 questions for a total of 200 points available. Theo’s group scored 55 and mine scored 75. The 1’st placed team scored 195! Overall I had a great time and I hope I get selected to participate next time.
The Maths Relay
On the 4th of August 2013 two teams of 4 went to East Launceston Primary School to represent Longford in the maths relay. Mr Cocker and Mrs Moore met us outside the main entrance to the primary school, leading us inside to prepare for the 5/6 session and competition. My group included Toby, Rose, Lauren and of course, me.
Starting off, the questions were pretty easy; however as we moved on the challenges became harder giving us the decision on whether or not to pass. Team work was the best option leaving absolutely no one out and eventually coming up with the answer. However, East Launceston had a program of switching teachers so our team ended up with my Cricket peer from Hagley Primary School.
Our final score was 55/200 which is reasonably good prior to not a whole heap of practice. The other team that included Jack S, Isaac, Braidon and Harvey; but because most of them were grade sixes they concluded with a higher score of
So in my final concluding opinion I really, well and truly think it was a great day for maths and competition because of the positive way everyone tackled stimulating tasks.

The Maths Relay
On Sunday, the 4th of August, some students from Longford Primary School went to East Launceston Primary School for a maths relay. Longford put in 2 teams, team A members were Lauren, Theo, Toby and Rose. Team B members were Harvey, Isaac, Braydon and Jack. There were 32 other teams and there were 20 questions, we had 45 minutes. There was 1 runner and they were not allowed to participate in that question and we had to swap runners once we had finished the question. The runner just had to get the question from their team and give it to the marker if it was wrong they would send the question back to the team and they would keep trying or pass. If you pass you may not go back to that question. In the end team A got 55 out of 200 points and team B got 75 out of 200. East Launceston won on a massive 195 out of 200. I had a great day it was a lot of fun and I wish we could do it again another time.
