This stunning photograph is from the National Geographic website which shows the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano in 2010. Five group points for anyone who can pronounce that!
According to the article, the smoke caused the grounding of air traffic in Europe for a week. Apparently, a storm over a volcano means that the mixing of water droplets, ice and ash creates an electrical charge that sparks lightening.
That eruption is one that I’m happy to see from the comfort of my desk, thank you!
Now, here is your task.
1. Look at the picture and think about what is happening here? What are the verbs you could use to describe the action / what are you seeing / what is being done?
2. Use whole sentences or brainstorm a list of words (verbs) – your choice!
3. Remember our work in verb groups on feeling, thinking, sensing, saying and action verbs.
