Ok so not really, we have not joined Twitter – that would not be appropriate for 9 and 10 year olds. However we are using the idea of broadcasting our thoughts and reflections for others to see, just like adults do on Twitter.
Instead of using an electronic format for this, we are using a simple low-tech approach – laminated cards and whiteboard marker, with a literal plaster wall in place of a figurative digital one. It is the perfect blend of the old and the new.
Our Twitter wall is a way of publicly sharing our reflections on what we have learned. Most days we try and write a tweet, and we also try and read the Tweets our classmates have written. Sometimes we find everybody has learned the same thing, other times we realise that everybody has learned something different. Occasionally we are reminded of something we already knew but hadn’t thought about in a while, which is also exciting.
Once again thanks to the talented teachers at Longford Primary School for the idea, Tweeting is a much cooler way to do daily reflections than what we were doing in Term 1.
